The wind power sector sees another major executive reshuffle. Luis Fernando Beckel, former International Sales Director at German turbine giant Enercon, has officially joined Mingyang Smart Energy as Commercial Director for its European onshore wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) division.

Beckel only spent six months at Enercon before his move. A seasoned wind industry veteran, he previously headed global sales at Vensys Energy and held senior management roles at GE Renewable Energy (now GE Vernova) and Siemens. In his new role at Mingyang, he will lead the company’s European market expansion and drive the rollout of custom turbine models tailored to local operating conditions.

Mingyang has ramped up its overseas talent recruitment drive by recruiting core executives from a string of international wind leaders, a series of moves that has drawn widespread industry attention.

Throughout 2026, the firm has onboarded Corinna Brandt, a former Vestas executive, Sascha Erbslöh with a background at Nordic utility Vattenfall, and Peter Wolf, a senior manager from Siemens Gamesa. With a roster of experienced professionals well-versed in the European market coming on board one after another, Mingyang’s European "dream team" is taking shape, sending a clear signal that the manufacturer is fully committed to conquering the European market.
