On August 3, Danish wind turbine giant Vestas announced a major leadership reshuffle. Anna Mascolo, a seasoned executive from Shell, has been appointed President of Vestas’ Northern & Central Europe and Global Offshore business lines. In Q1 2026, Vestas reported revenue of nearly €4 billion, up 14 percent year‑on‑year, largely fuelled by strong offshore‑wind performance.
A remarkable feature of the appointment is Vestas breaking with its conventional hiring pattern. Incoming leader Anna Mascolo has no background in turbine manufacturing; instead she is a highly‑experienced manager from the broader energy sector. She spent more than 20 years at Shell and also held a four‑year tenure at Rolls‑Royce SMR, giving her broad experience spanning the full energy value chain.
Vestas CEO Henrik Andersen commented that Anna brings sharp commercial acumen, global leadership vision and profound cross‑sector energy expertise, making her an ideal fit for the company’s next‑phase development.
