Ark Energy of Australia recently announced that Vestas, through its Australian development subsidiary, has completed the acquisition of the St. Patrick’s Plain Wind Farm located in Tasmania.

Planned with an installed capacity of 300 MW and equipped with 47 wind turbines, St. Patrick’s Plain Wind Farm has secured all necessary permits. Construction is scheduled to kick off in the first half of 2027, with targeted commissioning in 2030.

The St. Patrick’s Plain project was originally developed by Epuron before being taken over by Ark Energy. The transaction marks another milestone for Vestas in advancing its integrated “development + EPC + long-term O&M” strategy in Australia.

Statistics show that Australia’s cumulative installed wind power capacity stood at approximately 16.35 GW by the end of 2025, consisting entirely of onshore wind farms, with no large-scale commercial offshore wind projects yet operational.

Vestas ranks as the top turbine supplier by cumulative installations in Australia, holding a market share of roughly 35% to 40%. With the addition of the St. Patrick’s Plain project, Vestas’ national project pipeline across Australia has exceeded 13 GW, significantly strengthening its strategic position in the country’s wind energy sector.
